Funnies: Mopey Monday Edition

Not only is today Monday, but I have a sore throat, I did not sleep well, and today marks the beginning of a 9 or 10 day work week. If not 12. Clearly this does not make me a happy girl. On the plus side, there are plenty of people on the internet who are just as displeased as I am, only much funnier.

And I hate that bastard.

Too bad I can't get away with that shit at work. Though I'd be a turtle. Under my desk. Asleep.

I've totally got this shit under control.

What I wouldn't give for a movie day.

And today it feels like I designed it very well.
See ya.

Fill in the _____ Friday

  1. The love of my life is.... really? Do we still use that phrase? And how do you really know until you're on your deathbed?
  2.  Falling in love is... something to do with endorphins or some other brain chemical, right?
  3. Marriage is... a lot harder than most people think it is, in my opinion. Also, I think this should be amended to "relationships are," because not everyone gets married. And even if they do, their relationship doesn't start at "I do."It (should) take awhile and some serious get-to-know-your-quirks time to get there.
  4. The longest relationship I've ever had was... the one I'm in now.
  5. The key to a good relationship is... I don't think there is one "key" to a good relationship. But there are a few things that are usually pretty important: communication, patience, not taking the person for granted, thoughtfulness.
  6. I feel loved when... someone does something for me that shows they know me really well. Like buying me a book instead of flowers.
  7. My favourite quote about love is... I don't have one. I actually can't think of any. I know I liked some of Kahlil Gibran's lines, but I don't remember what they were now...

Ten on Tuesday

I'm worried that after all this time I won't remember how to do these! But here goes. I'll give it a try. The fact that it's V-Day ought to give me some ammunition, at least.

1. I hate shopping, as you may know. I wish my wardrobe would just magically replenish itself and bill me every few months so I didn't have to go to the mall, try shit on, discover they don't have my size in ANYTHING and go home broke after buying the best I could find - half of which only seemed good compared to all the other tiny, uncomfortable crap and I that I will end up never wearing anyway.

2. I have discovered this AMAZING pasta at a restaurant in Vancouver called Cactus Club. It's just vegetarian spaghettini, but I am totally obsessed. It's all I want to eat. If you live around here, check it out. There's also a version of it with seafood (yuck) if you like that sort of thing.

3. As you might have guessed, I'm not big on Valentine's Day. Not that I have anything against those who are into it, but for me it seems really contrived and forced. However, I am liking the idea of going to the firing range and shooting at some zombies. That sounds fucking romantic.

4. And on the topic of romance, I am loving the Oatmeal cards. Like this one:

5. I was thinking about how cynics are always saying that Valentine's Day was invented by Hallmark to sell cards, and I realized that it is much more likely to have been the brainchild of the alcohol industry. Everyone drinks on Valentine's Day - either to celebrate it or forget it.

6. So I've been trying to find the Hunter boots I like in my size for about a month or more now. These are them. As you may notice, they're out of stock. Here and everywhere else. I went to/called every shoe store in Vancouver trying to find them. I tried to get them from the Hunter website, but they don't ship to Canada. I even bid on and won a pair on EBay only to be contacted a day later and told that the seller had made a mistake on the size. So I finally gave in and bought these ones - turns out they were on sale. I'll let you know if they actually arrive ever. Cross your fingers for me, because my current shoes are literally falling apart.

7. My Starbucks consumption is way out of control. I've had three of their ridiculously priced beverages in as many days. I might as well start randomly leaving money places. But they're just so yummy. (And no, Lin, they weren't all Peppermint Mochas - I decided to be "responsible" and have a latte yesterday instead. It was horrible.)

8. I don't get flowers. I mean, they're pretty and all, but why spend so much on them when all they do is make people sneeze and then die depressingly quickly? I'd much rather a book or a good sex toy - you know, something you can get hours of entertainment from.

9. I can't think of a #9. Which is strange if you know me, because I never shut up. Seriously - NEVER.

10. Apparently my co-workers won't believe that I don't like Valentine's Day. This is what I found on my desk this morning. I haven't decided if they're really, really nice or just trying to kill the diabetic (there was also a chocolate chip muffin, but I already ate it).

That's it for the VD Ten on Tuesday post. Hope you're all doing something fun for Valentine's Day - like catching up on the Walking Dead.

Fill in the _____ Friday

  1. I started my blog because.... I was bored, and I wanted to fill in the blanks on Fridays.
  2. One thing I love seeing on other blogs is... Um..... not really sure. Mainly things that are amusing but show little glimpses into someone's life that make me feel like I'm not so weird, and there are others out there like me. Even if they do live in another country. (Ahem, Lin.)
  3. Something I love about blogging... comments! I love it when someone takes the time to respond to something I've written. Totally makes my day!
  4. A favourite blog post of mine is probably... the one I wrote while on hold with Shaw. Mainly because it stopped me from killing someone.
  5. Something my friends in real life know about me that I've never mentioned on my blog is... Hmmmm. What it's like to drink with me first hand?? I dunno. I can't really think of anything.
  6. My new favourite blogs to read are... I've taken a bit of a break from all things blog-related lately, so honestly I haven't even been keeping up with the blogs I already knew about! But check out Lin's blog, Linny's Vault if you're looking for an awesome place to pass some time!
  7. Some things I tend to avoid doing on my blog are... complaining all the time - while it might be nice to get off my chest, if I can't find a way to make it funny or relatable, it's not doing anything for anyone reading it. I also don't like talking in detail about my private life or the private lives of anyone I know. It feels like a betrayal and makes me uncomfortable.

Fill in the _____ Friday

I have finally gotten to a point where I can see a light at the end of the tunnel. I think. It might just be a reflection of the match that's about to burn my fingers, but I'm gonna go with some positivity here and hope it's daylight. So, in the interest of trying to move on, I'm back - and I've actually been missing blogging this week!

  1. If money wasn't an issue, the first thing I'd cross off my life list is... well, the first thing would be a vacation. Then buying a house. Then going back to school to get a PhD in Sexology. I've always wanted to be a sexologist, but mainly I just want people to have to call me doctor.
  2. Putting salt on my food without tasting it first something I like that other people think is weird.
  3. If my life were a movie right now, the title would be... either "It's Gotta Get Better from Here" or "I'd Rather Be Drinking."
  4. Three things I look forward to this month are... 1) the weather hopefully warming up a little bit, 2) J. getting back from his second business trip next week and hopefully not going away again for a little while and 3) getting a work event over with - there's so much to do!
  5. My favourite song to sing in the shower is... I don't generally sing in the shower, because even I can tell how bad it sounds. Also I don't want to scare my cats.
  6. If I found out that the production of ... I would say peppermint mochas, but they don't really keep. So I guess beer. I'd buy a warehouse full ... was ending next month, I'd go out and buy as much as I could tomorrow.
  7. One thing I'll never grow tired of is... I know it's like super obvious and boring, but my boyfriend. Particularly lately, I'm so grateful for having him in my life. He's my favourite person, and I can't imagine not having him in my life. Honestly, I don't even want to try. Also beer. I never get tired of beer.
