Random Thursday: Movies I Hate to Admit I Loved...

Lin, Katrin and I have a fun topic for you this week - and one we're pretty sure won't be hard for you guys!

Notting Hill

The main story was cute, but I just loved the side-story between these two!

Bridget Jones' Diary

This dance scene is a large part of why.
Love Actually
Though this dance scene wins.
So basically anything with Hugh Grant in it.

I'm having a really hard time with movies, so let's do TV shows, too:

Gilmore Girls
Honestly? I started watching this after reading a post about the books.

Teen Wolf
I eventually gave up on this, but I did like it for the first season or two...
The OC

Adam Brody! His character was so sarcastic and funny and geeky. And the friendship between his character and Ryan was just great. The girls... meh. But those two were great.

I'm sure there are plenty more, but I either have a general high standard for what I watch, or high tolerance for embarrassment. I mean, I'll freely admit I enjoyed the Twilight movies, for god's sake. How 'bout you guys? Got any shamers?

Random Thursday: What I Love/Hate About Valentine's Day....

Lin, Katrin and I have a fun topic for you this week - and one we're pretty sure won't be hard for you guys!

You probably won't be too surprised, but I come down more on the "hate" side of Valentine's day myself. Not that I really care much either way - I'm more or less indifferent to it.

But I am in favour of any excuse to tell someone you love them. So, even though you'll never catch me dead with flowers or heart-shaped boxes of chocolate, here's a couple of things I will be enjoying.

1. Taking my cat to the vet. Okay, so enjoying isn't really the right word for it - poor guy hates the vet. But it's what we're doing with our Friday night (coincidence - it's when we could get an appointment) and I am looking forward to him (hopefully) getting a clean bill of health. Poor dude had a partially torn ligament in one of his legs, and though he's walking fine now and we had a few harrowing days of trying to lock him up and prevent him jumping on any furniture (pretty much impossible - he's a cat), and I want to be sure he's alright.

2. Dinner out. No WAY am I cooking after spending my evening at the vet with a stressed out cat. No, I'm sensing some take away, at the very least.

3. Stray chocolates. Sometimes people bring in unwanted chocolates to work. Can't go wrong with that.

4. Well, it IS Friday. So there's that.

But most of all? I'm looking forward to VD being over for yet another year!

Random Thursday: IMO The Best Online Shop Is...

Lin, Katrin and I have a fun topic for you this week - and one we're pretty sure won't be hard for you guys!

I'm gonna give you guys a few different answers for this question.

1. For cosmetics - I like Feelunique. It's based in England, but offers free shipping on orders over $20. And let's face it, that's really not hard to spend. They also have frequent 15% off coupons, and they have some of the European cosmetics that can be hard to find or super expensive over here!

2. For books - If you're in Canada, Chapters is awesome. Their online prices are a lot cheaper than their in-store prices, and about 95% of the time they're cheaper than any other online store too. Free shipping on orders over $25, or you can get items shipped to the store nearest you free of charge on any order. Big fan. There's also Book Depository, a UK-based store that offers free shipping on orders worldwide. Pretty good prices overall, and excellent selection. One final site that's one of the best kept secrets on the internet - BookFinder. This is seriously awesome. It searches a bunch of online stores for the book you're trying to find and displays the comparative costs and conditions of both new and used books, including shipping. Which makes comparison shopping super easy. And because it searches used books, it's a great way to look for rare or out of print books. Also fantastic for textbooks, so little tip to all you students out there!

I was going to do more categories, but I have to get up at stupid early o'clock tomorrow morning, so that's all you get. But I want to hear from you. What're your favourite online shopping destinations? Share!
