The Perils of Curling

And no, I'm not talking about Norway's pants.

So tonight I am doing something very brave. I am going curling. You may laugh, but I'm actually only half joking, for two reasons. 1) I'm pretty clumsy and last time I went ice skating I fell on my head. 2) I haven't been on a slippery surface since back surgery. So if I suddenly disappear from the world of blogging, it's because I've either finally found my calling and moved to Norway to join their clown posse, or fallen and broken something. Let's hope for neither.

Wish me luck!

  1. I've never heard of curling...I must google asap! Hope you didn't fall & break something or runaway to Norway, I've become somewhat fond of you on here ;)

  2. Haha! Thanks, Lin! (On a totally random side note, I actually *just* saw that you mentioned me on Twitter - I mistakenly thought it would be a good idea to have a separate Twitter feed for my blog, but in reality I don't even use my @mle_vnc one! Oops!)

I did make it through in one (very chilly) piece and have not moved to Norway. As I suspected, Curling is not my long sought-after talent.

It's a really odd game that involves sliding a heavy "rock" towards a bullseye on the ice while your teammates "sweep" the ice in front of the rock to keep it moving. I still don't really get it, tbh. All I can tell you definitively is that it requires many layers of clothing and spiked hot chocolate.
