Fill in the _____ Friday

Sorry for being a delinquent blogger this week *hangs head*... I've been reading the Hunger Games. And as most of you will know, that means nothing else has existed since last weekend. But I'll try to do better next week... I might even write a post about HG when I'm done. And it's Friday! WOOHOO!

  1. My greatest strength is... that I am honest, and often say stuff even if the other person won't like to hear it. Sometimes this is a good thing.
  2. My greatest weakness is... see above. My big mouth gets me in trouble a lot. I also struggle with emotions. I have a lot of them, and they're really strong. But I'm a rational person, who likes to make sense of the world around me (and the world in my  head). Emotions are not rational, so they make me uncomfortable.
  3. People always compliment me on... well I don't know about ALWAYS. But I have been told I have a nice ass. I mean... eyes. Nice eyes.
  4. If you found me procrastinating, you'd probably find me... exactly as you expected. If I wasn't procrastinating something, now that would be news.
  5. The most cosy place in all the world is... in a comfy armchair wrapped up in a blanket like a burrito with some sort of fire nearby reading a good book. Preferably with snow outside and no work the next day. This is what retirement will look like for me, people.
  6. Something new that I tried recently was... um. Does reading the Hunger Games count??
  7. This weekend I would like to... read. I'm on a real book kick lately. I'm currently reading the first Hunger Games book (to be quickly followed by the second and third, I'm sure), The Wisdom of Whores by Elizabeth Pisani, which is a very interesting look at the AIDS epidemic and the things we don't do to stop it because of the moral issues involved (that's my impression so far, but I haven't finished it yet. If that's not a fair synopsis, sorry.) and Assata, which is the autobiography of Assata Shakur, who was unfairly imprisoned after her arrest for involvement with the Black Panthers in the '60s and '70s. And a whole big pile of other books.

As always, thanks to The Little Things We Do for the blanks! Head on over and join in!

    1. I'll check it out! I'm reading about four books at the moment - so we'll see how long that takes me. Where did your blog go??

  2. I've heard a bit about Assata's story in Common's tribute song to her, "A Song for Assata." It's a great track, have you heard it?

    1. Yeah, that's how I first heard of her, and it led me to do a bit more research, which then led me to her book. I learned about her in high school, but didn't get my hands on the autobiography until recently. It's a remarkable story - sad and enraging yet empowering all at the same time.

  3. 1. Love it! Most of the time I keep quiet cause I dont want to hurt anyone's feelings (except on the blog, cause I rule there) but this is why we're so perfect for each other ;)
    2. The gooey emotions always make me feel uncomfortable.
    3. Ha, we all know it's your ass they're talking about when they say it's your eyes.
    4. I heard that!
    5. Um...hello heaven.
    6. Totally.
    7. How does your brain not hurt from all these books? I mean, I love books as much as the next book whore but I dont doubt for one moment you'll read all those in the next few days haha.

    1. 1 - I love your honesty and sharp wit. It's the ones who are always super nice you can't trust - no one thinks nice thoughts all the time, and if they can't say them, they must be really bad. Totally perfect.
      2. Yeah. I always look around for the hidden cameras and wait for the cheesy music to swell in the background, which somewhat takes away from the moment.
7 - I start a lot of books because I'm excited and enthusiastic. Unfortunately, like projects, I rarely finish all the ones I start. I'm still barely started on Assata, and I'm about halfway through Elizabeth Pisani. However I've also read one of Betty White's books, gotten halfway through Tina Fey's book, about a third of the way through My Lai 4 and am on the third Hunger Games book, so it evens out!
